Free, open-source teleprompter for Mac
NotchPrompter is open-source under the MIT License. You can download it for free from GitHub, or support the project by getting it from the Mac App Store.
Two ways to get NotchPrompter
Free from GitHub
Every release is published on GitHub releases as a ready-to-use app. The full source code is public, so you can also build it yourself in Xcode.
Mac App Store
The Mac App Store version is a one-time purchase with no subscription. It installs and updates through the App Store and directly supports further development.
What you get
- A teleprompter in the notch area, right next to the camera
- Invisible to screen recording and screen sharing
- Voice-activated scrolling
- Adjustable speed, text size and font, including the dyslexia-friendly OpenDyslexic font
- Notch, corner or floating window position, on any connected display
- Global keyboard shortcuts
- Dark and light themes
No ads, no tracking, no account
Being free does not mean you pay with your data. NotchPrompter works fully offline, makes no network requests and collects no data at all. Microphone audio for voice activation is processed on your Mac and never stored. Read the privacy policy for details.
Requirements
macOS 14 Sonoma or newer, on Apple Silicon or Intel Macs. A MacBook with a notch is not required: on other Macs the prompter appears at the top of the screen.
